What version of Internet Explorer is
on my computer?
There are a couple of ways to determine which version of
Internet Explorer you are using, but the best way is to choose Help and then choose About Internet Explorer. If you do not see the word Help, click on >> to the right of Tools or Page and then choose Help.

Dealing with Pop-up Blockers View
Video
WCCC has Single Sign On. This means
you have one username and password for MyWCCC and Blackboard.
To login to Blackboard you must first log into MyWCCC. After
logging into MyWCCC click on the Access Blackboard link and Blackboard will open in a new window. If by chance the window is blocked, you will need to disable or turn off Pop-up blockers. This is not as much of an issue as in the past, but if you are having an issue, then diable your Pop-up blocker.
First, determine which version of Internet Explorer
your are using by clicking here. Then follow
the directions to configure your version.
It is possible to have more than one pop-up blocker installed
on a computer. For example, some anti-virus, spam, or firewall programs
include pop-up blockers. There are even extra toolbars that can be added
to Internet Explorer that contain pop-up blockers. Three of the more popular
ones are Google, Yahoo, and Bing. For help with these possible pop-up issues select the appropriate name Google, Yahoo, Bing.
Sometimes pop-up blockers can be temporarily turned off
by holding down the CTRL or ALT key on your keyboard. Try holding down
one of these keys while left clicking on the Blackboard link in MyWCCC.
Or Right Single Click on the word Blackboard below the
Blackboard tab then left click on Open
in New Window in the shortcut menu that appears.

The Blackboard web site seems to be down (I get a "page
not found" or similar error).
Either you are not connected to the Internet or there
may be problems on our end. To troubleshoot this error perform the following
test. Are you able to gain access to http://cnn.com or another web site? If so, there may be problems on our end. Please
call or email us right away. If you cannot reach CNN or other web sites
then your connection to the Internet is not operating. Contact your
Internet Service Provider.

Courses are not available until the first day of the
semester.
-
Online classes are listed on your schedule with a "W"
suffix. For example, if you see ART_157_WA on your schedule then
the class is offered online.
-
For all other courses, contact the instructor to find
out if Blackboard will be used as a supplement.
-
Do you have a seat in the class? If you have been put
on a "wait" list, your user account will become active in your online
class only if and when a seat becomes available.
-
There are two tabs in the upper left corner of the Blackboard
screen after you login: WCCC and Courses. Try clicking on the Courses
tab.

This probably means that your browser is out of date and
cannot properly read the coding language in which online courses are written.
To determine whether your browser might be the problem, see the Browser
section of Basic Skill & Requirements.

RTF stands for Rich Text Format; it is a universal word
processing format. You can open an RTF file using most word processing
programs (like Microsoft Word) and on any platform (PC or Macintosh).
To save your work in RTF format, go to the File menu in your word processing
software and choose "Save As." Use the drop down menu under the text box
with the file name to select "Rich Text Format (RTF)." RTF files that
contain images can get quite large. Saving the file as a Word file will
actually make the file smaller.
NOTE: If you're using a Mac, follow these steps and then
add .rtf to the end of the file name. This is necessary so that users
on PCs will be able to open the file.

Try the following remedies:
-
An up-to-date version of Java is required. The screen that appears
in Blackboard after clicking on Join for a Collaboration session
includes a link to update Java if necessary.
-
Pop-up blockers should be turned off.
-
There are a number of firewall and anti-virus program settings
that can prevent a Collaboration session from opening on individual

You are very brave. It is certainly possible to use AOL
as your Internet Service provider and to have success in connecting to
our Blackboard web site, but keep this in mind:
-
AOL does not always warn you before it drops your Internet connection.
-
AOL's Internet browser is not compatible with Blackboard's software.
Use a browser such as Internet
Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari to access the World Wide Web
Because of the nature of the problems between AOL and our Blackboard software,
we regret that we cannot offer technical support to AOL users beyond what
you have just read.

Blackboard is not optimized for mobile devices. Your web browser may be used to view and work in Blackboard, but we do not recommend using your mobile device for uploading Assignments, posting to the Discussion Board, and taking Assessments. The purpose for this is the possibility of Internet connection failure.
