Configuring Internet Explorer Version 7
The following tips may assist you in using this version of Internet Explorer with Blackboard.
View Status Bar — Required to view timer for assessments
Set Blackboard as an Approved Web Site — Required to view timer and use other tools
Pop-ups — May be required to view certain links or assessments
Active X Controls — Must be enabled to use certain tools
Text Size — Adjust the text size
Menu Bar — Miss the Menu Bar? Turn it back on.

View Status Bar

To turn on the Status Bar click the Tools button on the Toolbar located in the upper right area of the screen. From the Drop Down Menu select Toolbars and then Status Bar. |

Set Blackboard as an Approved Web Site

Go to https://wccc.blackboard.com and Left Double Click on the Internet icon in the Status Bar in the lower right area of the screen. |

In the Security window that pops up click on Trusted Sites (green checkmark) and then on the Sites Button. |
|
|
The web site address for Blackboard at WCCC should appear in the first text box. Click on Add to add it to the list of approved web sites. Finish by clicking on Close and then Okay for the Security window. |
|
|
The Status Bar should now display a Green Checkmark and the words "Trusted sites." |

Pop-ups
|
Pop-ups may be disabled or enabled for all web sites. They can also be enabled selectively for specific web sites. Follow these steps to enable pop-up windows for Blackboard. Click on Tools then choose Pop-up Blocker and select Pop-up Blocker Settings. |

If the address for Blackboard at WCCC does not appear in the text box then type in
and click on the Add Button. Finish by clicking on Close |

Active X Controls
If you should see a message bar just below the tabs that looks like this then you need to enable it to run Active X controls for this web site.
Left single click on the bar to view a shortcut menu. Choose Run ActiveX Control.
In the Security Warning pop-up window that appears click on Run.

If the text size is unreadable, follow these steps to change it. Click on the Page button on the Toolbar in the upper right area of the screen. Select Text Size and then choose a large size. |
