The Distance Learning Support staff is prepared to assist you with problems associated with the Blackboard Course Management System.  If you are experiencing problems with course content, please contact your instructor or the appropriate division dean.  Distance Learning Support staff cannot reset assessments and are unable to enter an instructor's course without the instructor's permission.

Finding Blackboard

To access your course(s) login to CampusConnections at http://my.wccc.edu After logging into CampusConnections click on the Blackboard tab.

Campus Connections

Blackboard will open in a new window that looks like this. If this window does not open then there may be a pop-up blocker preventing it from opening. The Technical Support section offers suggestions on dealing with pop-up blockers.

Blackboard Help

To get help with Blackboard click on the Help in the green banner across the top. The Support pages include the following sections.

Getting Started
This area contains information about taking your first online course (you used it to get to this page); usernames and passwords; your college email account; email etiquette; proctored exams; and the Academic Honesty Code.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many of the common questions asked by students interested in taking online courses at WCCC are located in this section. Such as: Is online learning right for me? Where do I get my textbooks? How do I register? How do I withdraw from an online course? Etc.

How Do I?
This area contains step-by-step instructions for taking Online Assessments, Downloading Files, using the Discussion Board, submitting files via the Assignment Feature, etc.

Technical Support
Look for basic troubleshooting tips here such as: I can log in, but I can't get into my class. I can't seem to post anything to the class discussion. I can't seem to save, download, or upload files. My Internet connection got dropped in the middle of a TEST! I've tried and tried to contact them, but I'm not getting any email from my instructor or my classmates. Etc.

Basic Skills & Computer Requirements
This section explains the basic computer skills you should possess before taking an online course.  Information on basic computer requirements is provided along with a glossary of common computer terms.

Tools
This area contains links to change your Personal Information and check grades/send emails for all of your classes. You can also check your grades and send emails from inside a course.

My Courses
This area lists all of the courses in which you are enrolled in Blackboard.  Each course listed has a link with announcements just below. Click on the course name to enter the courses. To switch to another course click on the WCCC tab in the upper left hand corner. This will ALWAYS return you to the Welcome Page.

This is what a typical course will look like.

Class Announcements

On the left is the Course Menu. This area contains links to each major section of the course. The Course Menu may appear as text on a solid background or as individual buttons.

Moving Around Inside a Course

Each link in the Course Menu will take you to a different area of the course. Some of the areas will contain information from your instructor in the form of text or files to download. Other links will take you to special Blackboard Tools, such as Sending Email; a Discussion Board; and Student Gradebook.Take a look at How Do I? for specific information on using these and other Blackboard features.
