Date Published: August 21, 2014
Westmoreland County Community College is seeking singers and instrumentalist musicians for its community choir and band.
The WCCC Community Choir and Band are open to individuals of all ages and musical experience levels. Current members are high school and college students and community members. No audition, fees or tuition are required to join.
The groups are under the direction of the WCCC instructor of music, Dr. Roderick Todd Booker, who is the former Hempfield Area School District music director.
Booker said, “Our relaxed yet challenging approach to musicianship is deliberate.”
“We want our choir and band members to enjoy performing as part of a diverse and talented group,” Booker said.
The groups perform holiday and spring concerts as well as at various community events such as the Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival and Pirates games.
Rehearsals are held in the WCCC Science Hall theater. Band rehearsals are held Mondays from 6:30 to 8:20 p.m. and the choir practices Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:20 p.m.
For more information or to join, contact Booker at 724-925-5976 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
